DIE & EMBOSSING FOLDER STORAGE

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, JUST A QUICK POST ON HOW I HAVE BEEN STORING MY DIES AND EMBOSSING FOLDERS..I HAVE BEEN PLAYING AROUND WITH SEVERAL STORAGE OPTIONS OVER THE PAST COUPLE YEARS AND NEVER REALLY CAME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT WORKS FOR ME UNTIL NOW AND I LOVE IT.

THE FIRST PICTURE IS KIND OF LIKE MY DIE CUTTING STATION. FROM LEFT TO RIGHT I HAVE A PHOTO BOX WITH ALL MY BIGZ DIES, THEN THE SMALL BINDERS WITH FRAMELITS AND EMOSSING FOLDERS, THEN A BASKET WITH MY CUTTING TOOLS AND CUTTING PLATES AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE BIG KICK.die-storage-5

AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURES BELOW I USED THE 1/2 SIZED BINDERS THAT HOLD THE 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 PAGES AND MAGNETIC VENT COVERS CUT DOWN TO FIT THE SIZE NEEDED.  ON EACH MAGNETIC PAGE I HAVE THE DIE SET AND THE LABELS FROM THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING IF I HAD IT. I LOVE HOW THIS IS WORKING OUT BECAUSE I CAN GET RID OF ALL THE ODD SIZE PACKAGING FROM THE MANUFACTURERS AND ALL MY DIES ARE IN ONE PLACE AND ALL I HAVE TO DO IS FLIP THROUGH THEM TO FIND WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR.

MORE FROM THE CRAFT ROOM

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.  HOPE IT IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY WHERE YOU ARE.  I JUST WANTED TO POST ANOTHER ORGANIZATION TIP THAT I SEEMS TO BE WORKING OUT FOR ME VERY WELL.

I STARTED WITH A STACKING BIN THAT I HAVE BEEN THROWING ALL MY BITS AND PIECES IN.  ANYTHING THAT I PUNCH OUT FOR A PROJECT AND DON’T USE OR SPARE PARTS FROM A CLASS GOES HERE AND THERE IS A LOT OF THEM, AS YOU CAN SEE…. I SAT DOWN AND SORTED THEM OUT INTO PILES OF LIKE SHAPES. (CIRCLES, SQUARES, STARS, WORDS ETC…)

wp-1457914510084.jpgwp-1457914511070.jpg

WENT TO MICHAELS AND BOUGHT THE IRIS PHOTO KEEPER WITH MY 40% OFF COUPON OF COURSE.  AS YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE 16 SMALLER BOXES IN A LARGE CARRY CASE. THIS WILL BE HANDY FOR CROPS OR IF I WANT SIT UPSTAIRS AND MAKE COLLAGE EMBELLISHMENTS.

wp-1457914510046.jpgwp-1457914511461.jpg

ADDED MY SORTED PIECES INTO THESE 16 CATEGORIES: (PAPER PIECES ONLY)

2. CIRCLES: SCALLOPED AND PLAIN

3. OVALS

4. LARGE SHAPES: TOP NOTE DIE AND BIGGER NESTING PIECES

5. SHAPES:  SMALLER NESTING DIES

6. SQUARES:  WHOLE PIECES AND FRAMES

7. STARS

8. BANNERS: BANNERS, FLAGS AND ARROWS

9. ORNATE: SNOWFLAKES, METAL WORKS & ETC

10. WORDS

11. TAGS

12. OBJECTS: FORKS, SPOONS, CAMERAS, ETC

THEN I HAVE 2 OF THE DRAWER SETS FROM MICHAELS WHERE I KEEP WOOD PIECES, METAL, DOILIES, BLING, WASHI TAPE AND MORE ITEMS THAT I HAVE A LOT OF OR ARE TO LARGE FOR THE SMALLER BIN.

AND HERE IS EMBELLISHMENT CENTRAL.  THE BINS ON THE BOTTOM ARE FOR RIBBON, MESH, TAPE, PAPER FLOWERS AND STICKERS.  AS YOU CAN SEE I HAVE MADE A DENT IN THE EMBELLISHMENTS BUT THE 2 STACKING BOXES STILL NEED TO BE GONE THROUGH AND SORTED.  I JUST HAVE NOT FOUND WHAT I WANT TO DO YET MAYBE ANOTHER PHOTO KEEPER???  STAY POSTED

12X12 Paper Storage

AFTER SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW FOR AFFORDABLE SCRAPBOOK PAPER STORAGE, I COULD NOT COME UP WITH ANYTHING I COULD AFFORD.  YES THE ROLLING STORAGE CARTS AND IKEA DRAWERS ARE WONDERFUL, BUT FOR THE AMOUNT OF STORAGE I NEEDED I WOULD HAVE TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, AND THAT COULD NOT HAPPEN…..SO HERE IS MY SOLUTION……..

1. BUY YOUR FILE FOLDERS AND AND STORAGE BOX TO FIT.  TIP: BUY THE FOLDERS FIRST AND TAKE ONE OF THEM TO THE STORE AND MAKE SURE IT IS GOING TO FIT IN THE BOX THE WAY YOU NEED IT.IMG_20151126_074202835IMG_20151126_073000033

2. DRILL HOLES IN EACH END OF THE BOX AND ADD STEELE RODS.  I GOT MINE AT HOME DEPOT, THEY ARE 1/4″ AND I HAD MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND CUT THEM DOWN TO THE LENGTH I NEEDED. IMG_20151126_073049395

3. YOU CAN SEE HERE THAT MINE FIRST ATTEMPT DID NOT GO SO WELL.  AFTER I GOT ALL THE PAPER LOADED THE RODS STARTED SAGGING. (PIC 1) . SO I WENT BACK TO THE HARDWARE STORE AND SEARCHED THE ISLES FOR A SOLUTION.  I CAME UP WITH ADDING EYE BOLTS AND WASHERS TO STABALIZE THE RODS (PIC 2), AND NOW NO SAGGING (PIC 3).IMG_20151128_201212569IMG_20151128_201234647(1)IMG_20151128_201222727

4. SO NOW HERE IS MY BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES. WELL THEY ARE MORE LIKE MIDDLE AND AFTER PICTURES BECAUSE I SORTED THROUGH THE MOUNTAIN OF PAPER I HAD AND ATTEMPTED TO SORT IT INTO CATEGORIES SO I COULD LABEL MY FILES.

IMG_20151128_205728449(1)

AND HERE ARE MY SORTED STORAGE SOLUTIONS. I HAVE MINE SORTED INTO 4 BOXES:  PAPER PADS, DESIGNER PAPER SHEETS, SOLID PAPER AND SPECIALTY PAPER.

PAPER PADS:  AFTER I HAVE USED UP MOST OF THE PAD ON PROJECTS I PLACE THE REST OF THE INDIVIDUAL SHEETS IN THE COORDINATING DESIGNER PAPER FOLDERS. I RARELY BUY INDIVIDUAL SHEETS UNLESS IT IS SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL.

DESIGNER PAPER & SOLIDS:  SELF EXPLANATORY

SPECIALTY PAPER:  CORK, TRANSPARENCY, VELLUM AND MORE THINGS LIKE THAT.

HOPE I HAVE INSPIRED YOU TO COME UP WITH A PAPER STORAGE THAT WORKS FOR YOU…
